Bios of the Malaysian Alumni Leaders include:
Faisal Hassan, an alumnus of the Study of the U.S. (SUSI) on New Media Program in 2010 and a Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program in 2007, was selected by ECA as the State Alumni Member of the Month for the EAP region in February 2010. With support from Embassy Kuala Lumpur, he had organized leadership training for youth, teaching English to underserved Malaysians, and raised awareness of global climate change, poverty, and the power of social entrepreneurship. Currently, he is the President of the Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership that was formed in August 2010.
Sabina Wong Kar Hei is an alumna of the State Department American Exchange Division’s Study of United States Institute for Student Leaders (New Media) 2010. Currently, she is the Vice President of Communications for the newly established Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership, formed in August 2010. After graduating last June with an Advanced Diploma in Mass Communications (Public Relations), she rejoined her alma mater to serve in the Department of Development and External Relations as part of Tunku Abdul Rahman College and will be furthering her studies in the UK later this year. As a student, Sabina Wong was an active mover for social awareness campaigns and events, particularly in the interest of charity and higher education.
Kirueben “Burn” Visvaraj is an alumnus of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program in 2007 and also completed a summer internship program in the U.S. under sponsorship of the U.S. Department of State in 2010. He is part of the Executive Committee of the Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership. Kirueben is currently undergoing his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the HELP University College, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur.
They will join the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur for Q&A Live Webchat on the ASEAN-American Youth Alumni Conference. The live discussion will take place on Friday, March 4, 2011, from 10:00a.m. (Malaysian Time).

Here is an overview of the ASEAN-American Youth Alumni Conference proposal.
An ASEAN-American Youth Alumni Conference to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia led by the Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership with support of other USG exchange program alumni (IVLP, Fulbright, Humphrey, Eisenhower, SUSI, YES, ACYPL, UGRAD, YLP and ACCESS) to provide a platform for ASEAN alumni leaders to network and solidify their partnership with alumni in ASEAN countries in order to facilitate future collaborations. This conference will cover topics such as;
- Democracy and Human Rights
- Economic Opportunity and Prosperity
- Women’s Empowerment
- Promoting a better environment
- Food security
- Global health
- Outreach to marginalized Communities
